Not too much going on in the yard this year. The advantage of working from home is that I can water as needed, so things look better. I only took on one small project. My back gate became unhinged (much like a significant minority of the country) so I had to do some repair work. The fix was functional, but not terribly attractive, so I decided to paint it. (The fence will have to be replaced in a year or so, so not much to lose, really.) I chose an aqua colour (Cay – Sherwin-Williams) that really reminds me of the 1930’s. I’m pleased with it.
My Duranta is doing extremely well – almost as full as the ones I saw in Peru.
I’ve had wildlife, too. The other day, there was a Cooper’s hawk in my oak tree. That might explain the sudden drop-off in the squirrel population.
One Sunday morning, I noticed what looked like some kind of zipper spider brunching on some prey outside my bedroom window. Last week, I saw this Garter snake surreptitiously drinking from the tiered fountain. I can deal with these creepy-crawlies; it’s the rattlesnakes that still scare the bejeezus out of me.
